pendleton invitational

jordan
lined up and waiting for their heat
the breast stroke
this weekend we spent both days at the pendleton aquatic center for jordan's swim meet. there were tons of teams and i believe about 600 swimmers in all. needless to say it was fun and exciting, yet to be perfectly honest.... a little boring! i know, i'm a such horrible mother to say such things about a activity that jordan is involved in, but lets just say that swimming is not a spectator sport.... on a high note though i must tell of a very exciting, edge of your seat event. it was jordan's last event, the 50 m breast stroke {which i have mentioned is her FAVORITE}. she has been having trouble diving from the block, so she decided to dive from the side. this seemed to be just what she needed. from the moment she hit the water and came up for her first breath, she was in the lead. she remained in the lead up until the very last stroke, when the girl in the lane next reached the wall a split second before her. she was so excited to be so close to her first top finish. she went into sunday's events still feeling pretty confident, but the pool wasn't her friend. she had all 100 meter events today and struggled a little in them. it's really hard for her to accept defeat since she is such a perfectionist, but she held her head high {wiping away a few tears now and then} and knows that tomorrow is another day, even if it includes hours of swim practice!
