the fire pit
mark has been working on this wine barrel fire pit project for several weeks now. he took it to the shop and worked on it in his "extra" time. he had to pre drill and screw about a million screws into the barrel so it would retain it's shape. then he had to cut the oak, which i must mention was very aged and "only" broke 6 jigsaw blades. he also made his template for the fire box section out of cardboard and then transferred it onto thick sheet metal, which he cut out and we bent into the box. some welding, grinding and some finish work and the pit section was complete. he also had to lay out and figure out all of the "plumbing" for the gas lines. we are temporarily running it on propane until we get everything worked out. since we've brought it home and hooked everything up, we decided it needs to be way shorter {note- i kindly suggested this to mark i don't know, like 10 times} and that we need to hook it up to natural gas sooner than later. all in all i think turned out awesome and mark really did a great job designing and building it. anytime he does anything, he does it to perfection; gotta love that! i'm really looking forward to sitting out on the deck and enjoying it all summer.
